FE Academy vs Engineer Exam Lab: what is the difference?
FE Academy ($89 a month) and Engineer Exam Lab are paid Skool communities with different formats. FE Academy lists lectures, a full FE Civil practice exam, a TI-36X Pro course, weekly office hours, and direct help from the instructor. Engineer Exam Lab Standard ($59 a month or $590 a year) posts a daily FE problem, a weekly timed mock, and tutor answers with steps. Premium ($89 a month or $890 a year) includes Standard and adds the PE tier.
How the memberships compare
FE Academy publishes one monthly price on its About page, but as read on October 3, 2026, that page does not list a yearly price, a trial, or a refund rule. Engineer Exam Lab publishes monthly and yearly prices, a trial for new members, and a cancel rule.
| FE Academy | Engineer Exam Lab Standard | Engineer Exam Lab Premium | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $89 | $59 | $89 |
| Yearly price | Not listed on the About page | $590 | $890 |

| If you cancel | Not listed on the About page | No refunds. Cancel any time in Skool settings. Access runs to the end of the paid period | Same cancel rule as Standard |
What FE Academy includes
The FE Academy About page describes a lecture library, a student community, and time with an instructor. The library covers math, ethics, engineering economics, statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, civil engineering materials, and fluid mechanics, and the same page lists one full FE Civil practice exam, so the package is built around that civil exam plus those lecture subjects. If civil is the exam you are sitting, compare that list with what is on the FE Civil exam.
The page also lists a course on the TI-36X Pro calculator, weekly office hours, and direct instructor support as its contact paths. The calculator course is separate from the exam’s own rules, so read which calculators are allowed on the FE exam before you build a calculator workflow around that course.
What Engineer Exam Lab includes
Standard is the FE membership. A new FE problem posts every day at 6:00 AM Central, with the full worked solution following at 6:00 PM Central, and the first daily problem posts on October 4, 2026. A weekly timed mock runs Saturday at 9:00 AM Central, and you can post questions in the Ask category, where the tutor answers with steps.
The problems are original: software generates them from the formulas in the NCEES reference handbooks, every answer is computed and checked by code before it is posted, and a second AI model checks the wording. Each solution names the handbook section and page, the equation, the substitution with units, and why each wrong option is wrong. Use that citation habit with how you use the FE Reference Handbook. For other places that post a problem on a schedule, see where to find daily FE practice problems with solutions.
New members get a 7-day free trial. There are no refunds, you cancel in Skool settings, and access runs through the end of the period you already paid. Premium is the PE tier and includes everything in Standard. The published Premium facts do not describe a separate PE problem clock, so read Premium as the PE membership that also includes the FE problem, the Saturday mock, and Ask answers.
Who each community fits
FE Academy fits a lecture habit on the subjects named above, plus one full FE Civil practice exam, calculator instruction, weekly office hours, and a way to reach the instructor. Match that exam, and those lecture subjects, to the discipline you will actually take.
Engineer Exam Lab Standard fits a practice habit: one new problem each morning, the worked solution that evening, a timed mock on Saturday, and written steps when you ask. The solution format sends you to a handbook section and page, then through the equation and the units. Premium fits you when you want that FE material and the PE tier in one membership.
Price and format still sit next to the rest of the market. FE exam prep options compared for 2026 lines up what other prep products cost and what they include, which helps if Skool is only one stop on your list.
Using both communities
The two memberships cover different work. FE Academy is the lecture library, the FE Civil practice exam, the TI-36X Pro course, office hours, and instructor support. Engineer Exam Lab is the daily original problem, the Saturday timed mock, and Ask answers that cite the handbook. Some people pay for both because the teaching sessions and the daily reps are not the same product.
Nothing in the published facts describes a combined discount, and each membership bills on its own. You can also work free FE practice problems with full solutions while you decide which paid format you will actually use.
Frequently asked questions
Is FE Academy worth it?
That depends on whether you will use what the About page sells. For $89 a month it lists lectures in math, ethics, engineering economics, statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, civil engineering materials, and fluid mechanics, plus a full FE Civil practice exam, a TI-36X Pro course, weekly office hours, a student community, and direct instructor support. The package fits if those lectures and that civil practice exam are your plan. It is a weak match if you mainly want a new timed problem every day.
Which Skool community is best for the FE exam?
These two About pages do not crown a winner, and neither source used here includes a pass rate. FE Academy fits lectures, office hours, and one FE Civil practice exam. Engineer Exam Lab Standard fits a daily problem, a Saturday mock, and tutor steps in the Ask category. Pick the format you will open on a normal weeknight, then check the price row in the table. A broader community comparison is in what is the best online community for FE exam practice.
Does Engineer Exam Lab have lectures?
The published Engineer Exam Lab membership is a daily FE problem with a worked solution, a weekly timed mock, and Ask answers with steps. A lecture library, weekly office hours, and a calculator course are not part of that description. Recorded lectures on math, statics, dynamics, and the other subjects named for FE Academy are what that About page lists instead. You still get a taught solution on each Engineer Exam Lab problem: handbook section and page, equation, substitution with units, and why each wrong option is wrong.
Does Engineer Exam Lab have a free trial?
New members get a 7-day free trial, with no refunds. You cancel any time in Skool settings and access runs to the end of the paid period. The FE Academy About page read on October 3, 2026 does not list a trial.
